Motor Coater is heat resistant up to 500°F, which is more than enough for water-cooled engines, oil pans, transmissions, and brake calipers. Motor Coater does not burn off at that temperature.
High-heat applications: If you need a coating for exhaust manifolds, headers, or any surface reaching above 500°F, up to 1500°F, XTC is the right product. Liquid XTC is rated for continuous service from 500°F to 1500°F, and XTC aerosols and XTC Primer are rated to 1200°F. Motor Coater is not intended for surfaces above 500°F.

Frequently Asked Questions: Motor Coater Heat Rating
Motor Coater is rated for temperatures up to 500°F. This makes it ideal for water-cooled engines, oil pans, transmissions, and brake calipers, and it is guaranteed not to burn off at these temperatures.
No. For exhaust manifolds, headers, or any surface running above 500°F, up to 1500°F, use XTC instead. XTC is rated for continuous service across that full range (aerosols and XTC Primer are rated to 1200°F) and is guaranteed not to burn off. Motor Coater is not designed for surfaces above 500°F.
Motor Coater is built for engines, oil pans, transmissions, and calipers up to 500°F. XTC is built for exhaust-level heat, rated from 500°F up to 1500°F continuous (1200°F for aerosols and XTC Primer). Pick the product that matches the surface temperature: Motor Coater up to 500°F, XTC above 500°F.
